In their own words

Proud Italian-American looking for a serious relationship.

I really enjoy going out to dinners, clubs, films/theaters, museums, and basically any social event in the city. I my strongest qualities are that I am a loyal friend, a good listener, and a respectful person. I am articulate and am not afraid to stand up for myself and for those who cannot. I believe in charity, faith, romance, responsibility, and my family and friends. I try to be an honest, rational, thoughtful, and perceptive self-actualized person. I'm an extrovert who enjoys laughing, and can handle myself in any social situation; I can speak intellectually and frankly with kings or commoners. I'm looking for a cultured, sophisticated, but FUN professional Italian-American, such as myself--I'm a HS teacher--who would be as comfortable going out dancing as he would be going to the opera. I am looking for a person who has confidence and class; who's enjoys going to the opera or out dancing. Of course, CHARACTER is the most important: a man of his word who is always a gentleman.

Insights
Describe the perfect evening.
A perfect evening is a very loaded phrase. After all, if one is more than a one-dimensional fictional character, he/she would have multiple perfect evenings. For me, a few perfect evenings (which can also occur on weekends;) would be going to a fine restaurant in the city and then, onto the opera/ballet/theatre/exhibition/et c. A second perfect evening would be eating at a trendy restaurant and then going onto dancing and drinks, after a great relaxing day at the beach at some popular get- away weekend spot--i.e., the Hamptons. Of course, when it is the right person, just holding hands and walking in the city on a sunny Saturday, walking on the beach on a warm evening, or just sitting on my stoop (yes, I said "stoop"; family from Brooklyn and I'm from Queens so...) and chatting, joking, and enjoying the most important thing in life...life.
Do you believe in love at first sight?
I absolutely do. It actually had happened to me, personally, and it is the most overwhelming feeling, in the best way, ever!
How important is someone's physical appearance to you?
I am, unfortunately, quite a bit shallow. Physical appearance is very important to me. However, that means TO ME! As the platitude goes, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." So, when I point out someone I think is handsome, you can rest assured that there is someone else to say that person is not the least good looking. I guess I am trying to say that looks are very subjective, therefore, the only men who shouldn't write to me, are those without pictures!
What do your friends like about you most?
I believe they would say that they like my generosity, loyalty, and thoughtfulness. I truly love my friends and am so grateful to them for all they've done for me during a recently difficult time.
What is the most important thing in a relationship?
I was taught, by my parents, that the most important aspect of a relationship is respect. While I do not disagree with that, I did correct my parents telling them that I believed love is still the most important aspect in a relationship since love is made up of three aspects: respect, trust, and commonalities.
